Rahu Mahadasha: Positive and Negative Impact of Rahu Mahadasha and Remedial Measures

Rahu Mahadasha: Positive and Negative Impact of Rahu Mahadasha and Remedial Measures
Like Ketu, Rahu is considered to be one of the most malefic planets in Vedic Astrology. Rahu is the north node of the moon and known as the dragon’s head, while ketu is the south node, known as the dragon’s tail. Both these planets are supposed to bring adverse impacts on a person’s life and rahu’s impact is much stronger and harmful than ketu’s impact. Rahu is a headless, shadow planet, just like ketu according to the ancient science of Astrology. The presence of Rahu makes the lives of natives very difficult. Rahu’s presence in birth chart implies that the natives were under karma bondage from their previous births and its presence can be felt even in the present birth.

Rahu Mahadasha lasts for a period of 18 years
One main reason why Rahu is a dreaded planet is because it cannot differentiate between good and bad, and works against dharma and becomes a servant to the Cosmic Game of Maya or Illusion. This illusion is at its peak in a native’s life when he is under Rahu Mahadasha. Like all other planets, even Rahu has its Mahadasha, which is known to be a period of sorrows, misfortunes, failures and obstacles and loss. This Mahadasha lasts for 18 long years and 6th and 8th years are supposed to be the worst years.
However, while the general interpretation of Rahu Mahadasha is not a positive one, yet according to experts, the impact, whether positive or negative depends on the positioning of the planet in its house, in zodiac signs and ascendants or lagna and its alignment with other planets in the astrological birth chart of an individual during that period. Rahu Mahadasha gives good and bad results according to our karmas too.

When is Rahu Mahadasha positive?
Rahu Mahadasha can give good results under the following conditions:
  • Rahu Mahadasha gives a positive outcome when it is situated in 3rd, 6th, 10th and 11th houses in the horoscope.

  • Rahu with Moon or in the Moon's nakshatra also gives good results
  • Rahu with Mars or in the Mars nakshatra is also good
  • Rahu’s existence with Mercury is also positive one
    • Rahu existence with Jupiter or in Jupiter's nakshatra is another positive alignment of Rahu and is the Guru Chandal Yoga.
    • Rahu presence with Venus or in the Venus nakshatra is also a good one
When both Rahu and Katu are positioned well in their own nakshatra, the outcome of the Mahadasha is a positive one.

When is Rahu Mahadasha negative?
