Panch Mahapurush yog

Panch Mahapurush Yog
Introduction: What is Panch Mahapurush Yog?
One of the most important yogas in Vedic Astrology is the Panch Mahapurush Yog. The Sanskrit word "Yoga" originates from the root word "yuj", the meaning of which is to join, and in Vedic astrology, this means joining or coming together of two or more grahas in a particular manner. In Panch Mahapurush Yog, a personality of any great man is created in his astrological chart because of the influence of the different types of characteristics of five planets. This yoga gives a person wealth, prosperity, honor, glory, popularity and power.

How Panch Mahapurush Yog is formed?
It is a yoga in which the yoga positions depend on the planetary position of five planets (Mars, Mercury, Jupiter, Venus and Saturn) in a man’s birth chart. The other four planets (Rahu, Ketu, Sun and Moon) are not included in this Yog. Characteristics of a certain planet are strongly given emphasis in each type of Panch Mahapurusha Yoga. This is formed in a horoscope when the five planets are in Kendra from Lagna or Moon. These 5 planets should be either in their own houses or in the house of their exaltation. It is said that a person with this yog has some strength and abilities which are different from those of a normal person. It is said that these yogas exert a strong influence that raises the person above the level of the ordinary. These five planets (Mars, Mercury, Jupiter, Venus and Saturn) give rise to five different yogas, respectively, as given below:
Ruchaka yoga
Bhadra yoga
Hamsa yoga
Malavya yoga
Sasa yoga

Panch Mahapurush Yog in more detail
Ruchaka yoga: This Yog is formed when Mars is placed in its own or exalted house or in Kendra houses (1, 4, 7, 10) from Lagna or Moon. A person with Ruchaka yoga has a strong physique like that of a warrior. He is known for his valor and intelligence. He is disciplined, traditional, and a conqueror who always abides by customs and laws. He will get good health, wealth, a higher position in defense or police
Bhadra yoga: This yoga is formed when Mercury is placed in its own or exalted house in a Kendra houses (1, 4, 7, 10) from Lagna or Moon . As the name suggests, the native to this yog is also a gentleman, a kind-hearted and helpful person.

When Panch Mahapurush Yog Becomes Weak?
If the five planets Mars, Mercury, Jupiter, Venus or Saturn are placed in either 1st, 4th, 7th or 10th house from Lagna or in their own house or exalted houses, Panch Mahapurush Yoga is formed. But the mentioned yoga gets weak under the following conditions:
If sun joins any of the 5 planets.
If weak Moon joins the planet making Raj Yoga
If any debilitated planet joins any of the 5 planets.
If a planet is positioned with any of the 5 planets in inimical or harmful sign
Being owner of 6th, 8th and 12th house, Panch Mahapurush Yoga won’t produce good effect.

How Shadbala Reduces the Strength of this Panch Mahapurush Yog?
There is a great system for mathematically calculating the strength of a planet in Vedic astrology. This is known as the Sixfold Strength System or shadbala. You should study the shadbala score to get the strength of the aligning planet and this can be utilized to judge the potential strength or weakness of the alignment itself. You can also use a vedic astrology software for this. Statistically, these yogs can appear in a lot of birth charts, but that does not mean that the effects would show up everywhere. In case of Panch Mahapurusha Yoga, the planet should both be close to its point of exaltation and present in the sign of exaltation. It should also not be powerless due to shadbala.
