Ashvini Nakshatra

Of all the 27 Nakshatras, Ashvini or Ashwini is the first nakshatra in Hindu vedic astrology. Ashvini plays an important role in making astrological calculations in vedic astrology. Its controlling planet is Ketu, the ruling deity of which is Lord Ganesha. The presiding deity of Ashvini is Ashwini Kumaras, the twins who are believed to be the physicians of the celestial Gods. Ashini constellation is contained within Aries or Mesha. Both Aries and Ketu are ruled by Mars, and hence Mars has great influence on this Nakshatra as per astrology. Sun is exalted in Ashvini nakshatra and sun enters this nakshatra around second and third week of April every year, when there is a pleasant climate depicting the end of spring and beginning of summer.
